Work

I graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2005 with a Doctorate of Medicine. Then I served on active duty with the Navy for fives years. Initially, I completed an internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA before going through a six-month program for flight-surgery training in Pensacola, Florida. I was then assigned to a Naval Station where I served as a flight surgeon and Medical Director for the local Search and Rescue Team. During that time I was privileged to work as a NASA Emergency Response Team physician, covering the landing of a few of the space shuttles. In between my time there I deployed with the Marines to Iraq for six months and served as the group physician with the Marine Air Wing in Al Asad Air Base.

Then in 2010 I completed my military assignment and matched into the Emergency Medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. On graduation in 2013, I accepted a job in northern California where I worked as an Emergency Physician for eight years. More recently, I care for patients with chronic wounds incorporate different advanced methods to maximize wound healing. I have also worked in treating opioid addiction both in my time in the Emergency room and now in a recovery clinic. I love my job most of all because I see the power of God’s grace at work.

Family

When the body of Christ comes together, the Lord’s face shines on us and it is Heaven on Earth.
— Mercedes Patee

I married my wonderful husband in 2006. He is a fellow believer and on fire for God. God has blessed us with a strong marriage in Christ. God has gifted us with two wonderful sons. We have learned much of the love of God towards us through them. It is our joy and privilege to help them grow in relationship with Jesus.

We are surrounded by an extended family who lavish us with love and support and a home church that is committed to uniting with us in the gospel. It is through relationship with them that we come to recognize the fruits and gifts of the Spirit which are powerful to unite and heal.

Music

I have a song in my heart for Jesus which words cannot completely express. I find joy and rest as I attempt to lay it before him through music. I sing and play songs in worship that tell of my desire and love for Him. My goal is to express the song in my heart so that I will be fulfilled in my joy and so Jesus would take pleasure in my love. I share my song so that others may discover tones and words to express theirs.

Hobbies

I enjoy things which allow me to be creative. At this time in life they are currently cooking, music, playing with my sons, and storytelling (usually about time-traveling penguins.)

I enjoy traveling and experiencing new things. I discover God’s goodness in His handiwork.

I enjoy the fellowship of believers. It is a taste of Heaven for me.
